  • Libby Magnusson

    Elected to the Trust Board since 2013 Libby is the current Deputy Chairperson.

    Libby’s schooling took place in Auckland then to Business College and onto her first job with a Share
    Broking firm, various clerical positions followed. Marriage, to Bob, took them round New Zealand, family life evolved, and children’s team sport. She still found plenty of time for her own sporting interests, tennis, swimming and netball. Some of her other activities have been in the teaching of swimming and keep-fit for special needs people.

    Now her particular interests are gardening, walking, painting, reading and some club activities.

  • Rosamund Scoffham

    A member of the Trust Board since 2007.

    Rosamund was born in Thames and brought up in Auckland. She spent many years overseas due to her husband’s work as a geophysicist. She lived in West Africa, South America, the Middle East and the U.K. She has always been an active member of a wide variety of committees and organisations.

    Before returning home, to New Zealand, she undertook a History of Arts degree in the U.K.

    Rosamund is active in the Russell Community as a volunteer in the Enterprise Russell Charitable Trust and as a committee member of the Okiato and Te Wahapu Ratepayers and Residents Assn.

    Her aims as a trustee are to support the management and governance of Russell Museum and its surrounding grounds.

  • Stephen Western

    Elected to the Trust Board in 2010.

    Stephen is a talented professional photographer and local businessman running Russell-based Kingfisher Yacht Charters with his wife, Sue, as well as his photography business. Born in Devonport and brought up in Mt Roskill, Stephen spent 28 years as an insurance broker in Takapuna and he and Sue spent three years as owner/operators of Furneaux Lodge, Marlborough Sounds.

    From 1967 Stephen cruised many times to the Bay of Islands finally deciding to stay because he “liked the smell of the place”.

    Stephen records history daily through his photography. ” You don’t know where you’re going till you know where you’ve come from” he says “History is important.”

    Stephen’s interests are: sailing, photography and assisting Russell with gathering and preserving its history.

  • Bernard Woodcock

    Elected to the Board 2010.

    At 17, Bernard attended Elam School of Fine Art. Four years later, in 1969, he and his wife, Maureen, returned to Russell ‘because it was home’.

    Bernard, Maureen and their son Lukas have lived and traveled in north and mid USA twice, being away from home for three and a half years. Maureen studied art therapy in 1991 which also took them away from Russell.

    A community minded person, Bernard has been an early member of the Russell Boating Club, St. Johns Ambulance and the Russell Fire Brigade. He has experience in construction, landscaping and art.

    Trustee focus: Bernard wants to put something back into the community since he is now retired and living in Russell.

  • Ailsa Murray

    Elected to the Trust Board in 2010.

    Originally from Hawkes Bay, Alisa came to Russell in 1974 looking for a change of pace after five years of clothing design in London.
    Embracing the Russell lifestyle, she became a skipper for Fullers in 1978. After having traveled extensively, Alisa finds the Russell ‘village’ a large family community that is special and unique.

    Currently an executive board member of the Bay of Islands Swordfish Club, she has also served with the Russell Ratepayers Association.

    Alisa is keen to see Russell Museum continue to prosper and reflect the community with a special interest in catering for children. She credits her increased awareness of the treasures Russell has and the need to nurture, protect and promote them as being her motivation for her trusteeship.

    Her interests are reading, clothing design and golf.
